Phone draw rules

These are the rules of the Sektar phone draw, a free prize draw held separately in each society on Sektar. The prizes, the number of places and the dates for your society are on the draw's page in the app (Menu → Prize draws).

Free to enter, no purchase

• Entry is free. You never have to buy anything, post a paid ad or pay anyone to take part, and buying something never gives you an entry or a better chance.
• There is nothing to fill in: you take part by becoming a Resident of your society on Sektar while the draw is open.

Who can take part

• The first members of a society to become Residents while its draw is open get a participant number, in order, up to the number of places on the draw's page (1,000 unless it says otherwise). Your number is shown on your home screen.
• The draw closes when every place is taken, or on its end date, whichever comes first.
• On the day of the draw you must still be a Resident of that society, and have been one for at least 7 days since you got your number.
• Suspended and closed accounts cannot win.
• Sektar staff, and sample, review, test and guest accounts, cannot take part.
• One number per person in each society. Extra accounts, or faking your location to become a Resident, disqualify every account involved.

Prizes

• The prizes are listed on the draw's page, for example a phone, a smartwatch and a family dinner. Staff may change a prize before the draw; the page always shows the current list.
• Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash.

How the winners are chosen

• The draw is made by the Sektar server, at random, among every eligible participant number. Every eligible number has the same chance.
• The draw can be run only once. Its random seed and a fingerprint of the list of numbers it drew from are kept in our audit log, so the result can be checked.
• For each prize, three backup numbers are drawn after the winner. If a winner cannot be reached or is not eligible, the prize passes to the first backup, then the next.

Winners

• Winners are told in the app, and the winning participant numbers are announced in a notice to the society.
• We contact winners only through Sektar. We never ask for a payment, a fee or bank details to hand over a prize. Please report anyone who does.

Other things

• These rules may be updated before a draw opens; the version on this page is the one that applies.
• Sektar is an independent app. The draw is not run, endorsed or sponsored by any housing society, its developer or its management.
